I disagree that large age gaps in relationships are inherently toxic. Large age differences are my favourite dynamic for too many reasons to list here.

That being said, media doesn't do them very well. The younger party (and it's usually M/F) is often presented as having codependency or daddy issues, while the older figure is usually a loser, a wish fulfilment fantasy, and/or cheating on his wife. (Remadora on the left just wasn't handled right, though.)

I think people's complaints re: this trope's ubiquity are because of this issue. I'd sell my soul for an age gap couple in canon done right.

S!B: I know I shouldn't expect anything different, but the correlation between these pairings and daddy dom in fic is a personal tragedy.
