In goodreads I often see if the recommended book has negative reviews the recommended book has. If the reviewer

I was about to say that if I read a negative review and the reviewer points out things I probably wouldn’t like in a book either, I know to avoid the one in question.
(And tbh, negative reviews are often also kind of entertaining to read)

Interdimensional
book thieveslibrarians maintain a cosmic balance between the forces of order and chaos, while dashing or blundering through shenanigans in a variety of picturesque settings.Kind of has a vintage Doctor Who vibe to it. Female lead, and she has some *interesting* relationships with other female characters (and a couple of guys, for good leavening.)
Books are relatively short, and the first in the series is pretty representative of the series as a whole if you want to try it.
