Blame the increasingly depressing state of the world for adults wanting to consume escapist fiction that's going to have more or less happy endings, not the adults who consume it.

If you think that most people in medieval times traveled extensively and/or gave a fuck about what was going on a continent over, you should sue whatever education system you flunked out of.
