Based on 7

What roles would you recast?

Re: Based on 7

Michael Sheen was great, but I'll always be sad I didn't get to see Paul Bettany as Aziraphale.

Dane DeHaan as the lead in Valerian and the Thousand Planets or whatever the name of the movie was

valerian and the city of a thousand planets, so close enough

and... i don't know if anybody could have saved that role. that movie isn't meant to be watched, it's meant to be looked at; the characters are almost incidental to the setting

It would always have problems, but a lead actor who wasn't made of cardboard would have helped a lot.

I'm not sure how niche this is but Richard Coyle as Moist von Lipwig in the Going Postal film. I'm assuming it was poor direction, as he's not a bad actor by any stretch, but the lack of showmanship in the performance was very disappointing.

And... that time Alexis Bledel played a hooker in Sin City. That was just weird.

Robert Sean Leonard should have played Matthew Broderick's role in the musical version of the Producers.
Robin Williams would have made a much better Riddler than Jim Carrey.

Pretty much anyone would have been better than Matthew Broderick in that movie.

hahah you'll get no argument from me. Other than him I liked that movie, too!

Most of the new cast in the Hobbit movies, but then again I'd rewrite the script too.

I'd recast Frodo, Legolas, and especially Elrond from LOTR.

I'd recast Padme. I just don't think Natalie Portman is a good actress. Maybe Anakin too, though I really liked how Hayden played him after he went dark.

I'd recast Peter Parker in the MCU. And I'd also write the character as the older, well established version of the character rather than as a teenager. I'd recast Jane Foster because I might have been more interested in the character and seen more chemistry with Thor played by a better actress. And I'd just get rid of Darcy altogether.

I'd recast Jonathan Harker in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Keanu Reaves cannot act to save his life.

I'd recast Khan in Trek Into Darkness, although it probably wouldn't save the film. And then I'd recast Spock in all the reboots.

And everything Tom Cruise has ever been. Even the one movie of his I like him in, Event Horizon, would probably still have been better with a different actor.

I don't think Tom Cruise was in event horizon?

You are right, put the wrong one. I meant Edge of Tomorrow.

I agree with you about Keanu being a shitty actor, about the only role he would work in is if they did a live action version of Beavis and Butthead, he could be Butthead.

He is great in the John Wick movies because he is supposed to be all stoic and shit.

I won't dispute Legolas and Elrond, but I thought Elijah Wood was perfect as Frodo.

I can agree with pretty much all of these. I do heavily disagree about Natalie Portman not being a good actress, but I still wouldn't mind Padme and Jane Foster being recast.

Euron Greyjoy should have been played (or at least dressed like) by someone who was not in a boyband in the 90s.

I love Stephanie Sheh, but I still don’t think her voice was right for Sailor Moon.

I think she's perfect for Usagi, but that's just me. Why do you think she's not right for the part, if you don't mind me asking?

Armie Hammer in Call Me By Your Name. I love that film but since he's awful and it's shutting down any work on a sequel, recast it.

Jeremy Renner in the MCU. He plays himself and he exudes jerkiness all the time. Clint was completely forgettable in the beginning. He was terrible as Ronin and since the show seems to be leaning into the Matt Fraction run, he needs to be completely different and I think he's shown he's not a good enough of an actor to pull it off.

Fingers crossed that Kate Bishop will take over after the TV show and we won't have to deal with JR moving forward.

I don't like Armie Hammer, but I think he's perfectly cast in the role. He struck me as a yuppie sleaze and Armie Hammer IS a yuppie sleaze.

Emmy Rossum and especially Gerard Butler in the 2004 Phantom of the Opera movie with people who can sing, although since replacing the director=/=recasting, I dunno how much that would've helped without also getting rid of Joel Schumacher.

Russel Crowe in LesMis.
Both actors for Sirius and Remus in Harry Potter (too lazy to look up who they were though I think one was Gary Oldman).
Nicolas Cage in every movie I would have been interested in if he hadn't played a role in them.
