Re: What characters or story lines would you cut from shows/movies you like?

The Sand Snakes in GoT. They were just so cringy. The whole "getting a dead guy from North of the wall by walking in" story line in GoT.

Steve Rogers going back in time to stay with Peggy. -______-

Re: Steve's choice to go back, do you feel like it was in line with his development in the MCU (as in people are always selfish, and whatnot, but the future kinda made him long for this impossibilité a bit more)? Or do you feel it was antithetical to the core of his character -- he might have spent the rest of his days pining over this loss but with the knowledge his sacrifice was worth it (or was it?). Also, leaving Bucky (but I'm here for Bucky & Sam being friends because Sam's super cool and has good energy).

I simply wonder because when he went back and said fuck it, i was a little shocked. But then remembered he was human too. Time to get down fic where he doesn't abandon us lol

It felt like his ending was a complete turn around of 5+ movies of character development. From Winter Soldier onward, Steve spends the movies getting over the past. Even Peggy tells him he needs to move on (The world has changed, and none of us can go back. All we can do is our best, and sometimes the best that we can do is to start over.).

In Ultron he tells Tony that he is a different person. Not to mention that he makes close relationships with people around him (Natasha, Sam, Wanda).

It is such a bizarre 180 from the man who has embraced the 20th century. This isn't even getting into what is he doing in the past. I got a whole rant about that.

AYRT

Please go off! It always struck me as something in his core he wouldn't do. It wasn't the righteous thing to do. I don't know. But I'd love to hear your rant!

Okay, so the whole running of to the past is completely out of character for the man who says "If I see a situation pointed south, I can't ignore it. Sometimes I wish I could." it also ignores the 5+ movies if character development as I mentioned. But just looking at the mechanics of him going to the past have terrible implications.

So we got two scenarios (I think the directors say one, writers say another).

Steve Rogers went to the past in the current time line and just hid as Peggy's husband. Which is just bizarre. Does Peggy's family never see her husband? Does no one in Shield ever wonder who one of their creators is married to? Does Steve just live from the 40s (50s?) onwards with the information he knows? He doesn't tell Peggy about Hydra? He doesn't save Bucky from decades or torture or prevent the Starks death? The man who always fights injustices would be fine just sitting around during the Civil Rights movement or even events like 9/11? That ain't my Steve Rogers.

Then we have the scenario where he went back in time and created an alternate timeline. In this timeline he does rescue Bucky and prevent Hydra from taking over. But...what about the Steve in that timeline? Do they find and thaw him (guess that shield needed to come from somewhere)? Does our Steve just call dibs on Peggy? Do they leave him frozen forever? Best case scenario is a Steve/Peggy/Steve sandwich.

da

Agreed, it's irritating that they insist he was Peggy's husband all along if they intended for the original timeline to never be disturbed. What was the reason for doing nothing to prevent all those tragedies? They don't even address that at all! I'd rather have the alternate timeline.

Fucking this.

Also, all the idiocy of 'Ultron' and 'Civil War'. Yeesh.

Yeah it really is an awful ending for his character. I get that he's the favorite of the Russo's and they really wanted to give him a happily ever after that lets Chris Evans off the hook but keeps as many other characters as possible, but surely they could have done something else. He has to be the new guardian of the soul stone after he whoops Red Skull's ass. I don't know, anything.
