114 - Dude, didn't Bob Dylan say he dug their cover? Desolation Row is my favourite Bob Dylan song, but I mean, whatever. The fans always hate the covers more than the actual artist, which I think is hilarious.

115 - If someone thinks you're homophobic because of that, then they're an idiot that you don't need to associate yourself with.

121 - AM IN THE EXACT SAME POSITION AS YOU. My friends know I like that stuff, but they're just not interested in British tv D:

127 - BEST. WEBCOMICS. EVER. Now that is how you do history comics (I know, it's subjective opinion blah blah). I don't even care much about history, really, but I still love her stuff.

144 - You can be in bandom and not read the fic. Granted, you're probably missing out.

170 - Uh, no kidding. You can ship things without thinking that they're actually doing each other in canon. I ship couples (whether het or slash) based on if I like the dynamics between the characters, not on what was obviously unintententional subtext. Who cares if it'll never happen?

This. The dynamics between characters are what I tend to focus on as well.

Word. My fandom has a huge cast, few canon couples, and lots of room for the imagination. I don't see any problem with enjoying a non-canon relationship that can be developed in a plausible, in-character way. When I say I ship a non-canon pairing, I mean that it appeals to me when believably developed, not that it's total trufax because the one guy sort of looked at the other at one point in time.

Pretty much.
Just because you ship something, it doesn't mean you think it's actually happening anywhere outside of your little world of fanon. And if you do think it's happening, well, then you're delusional I suppose :)

Yes. I mean, I'm one of those crazy people who slashes just about everything, but no matter how hard I ship it I know that it's not really happening, and so many of my favourite pairings I enjoy the idea of the friendshippy interactions than anything romantic. Same for my non-canon het pairings.

I wish I could find more canon pairings I like. D:

170. Everyone who says they ship it "for the dynamic" are always slashers. Are het pairings uninteresting, or are these people fooling themselves?

Uh, no.
I ship everything for the dynamic and I ship het and slash. I don't care about the gender when shipping people (though that doesn't mean I'm going to assume that everyone is actually bi in canon).
