You know, I wasn't going to say anything, but... come on. Their relationship is one of mutual obsessive hatred. They want to destroy each other mentally and physically, over and over again. Besides which, Joker isn't capable of love the way that most people understand it; he's a homicidal sociopath, even the one person he has feelings for he's tried to kill specifically because he has feelings for her.

No, not really. S/he said "unrequited like theirs". "Their love" isn't unrequited; there's no love on either side.

Their relationship is fairly complex--I mean it's so much more than just hatred, obsessive or otherwise. There's this distinct possessiveness they display in the comics that opens the door to (because I hesitate to use the word "romantic") slashier interpretations. After all, many writers have explicitly stated that they have written the Joker as harboring "feelings" for Batman.

Yes, their relationship is extremely complicated and symbiotic (as seen in stories like Going Sane where we learn that Joker, at least, would not continue to exist if it were not for Batman). However, it's not romantic and none of the feelings they have towards each other could be construed as love. Being territorial over who gets to kill someone is not a sign of affection, not knowing where to turn after vanquishing a life-long enemy is not love.

Joker flirts with Batman because it really fucks with Batman's head and he derives great satisfaction from those reactions. It's a game to him.

And even though people can argue pretty much whatever they like with so much continuity written from so many different perspectives on the characters, the fact does remain that Joker is a sociopath who is not capable of real love and Batman could never have romantic feelings towards someone so- excuse the word- evil.
