He may be those things, but he's also passionate, talented, friendly, encouraging & enthusiastic towards others, and not only acknowledges but fixes the mistakes he makes.

...I'm not entirely sure why I feel the need to defend a fictional character, but I do. Sorry.

Have you considered the possibility that his fuckuppery re: Christmas was due to the fact that something was missing from his life and not a personal character flaw? He was lonely, he just didn't know how to deal with it and went after the usual camaraderie and fluffy feelings that come with Christmas because it was the first thing in a long time that touched his lack of a heart?

Everyone loved the Pumpkin King, but until Sally came out with her feelings for him nobody loved Jack.
