Lola was and still is hot. Her voice doesn't get enough credit to that fact - so many people focus just on her design but her actual character is great too. She can be really funny and charming when she wants to be.

idk, maybe it depends on where you hang out online. I've seen the your parenthetical more than any actual shaming of finding her sexy before. I agree tho the shame should be with the artists who are writing female characters as only either sexy or ugly.

I mean, I do find it annoying that female characters in kids' cartoons have to be either "hot" or "comically ugly". But that's not Lola Bunny's fault, and besides, Bugs dresses up as a sexy woman pretty frequently.

I just can't find cartoons sexy. I can appreciate that say, Jessica Rabbit, is drawn to be sexy, but I've never gotten hot from an animated anything.

But people ship Transformers, so I guess I just don't understand fandom sometimes.

I think the intention is to make fun of creepy dudebros who're upset a fictional woman isn't being drawn sexy enough, but as so often happens on the internet, people are making their criticisms so broad and sweeping that it also hits a bunch of basically inoffensive people whose only crime is thinking that a character created to look good... looks good?
Most furries are pretty thick-skinned, though, so I wouldn't worry too much.

i'm more upset about them recasting her (i adore zendaya and i'm sure she'll do great, but the recasting smacks of them deciding to use a bigger name to get the movie more attention, especially since i think i remember them saying kath was originally still voicing the role).

As a little girl when the Space Jam movies came out (and who got the stuffed Lola Rabbit "action figure with the yellow top and purple shorts) i always found myself aspiring to be/be like Lola. She was cool, pretty, confident, and competent. Perhaps all those things (and the hip swaying as she entered the room, basketball spinning) gave her the sex appeal that made Bugs' jaw drop. So I wanted to be like her.

Yeah, I find the reblogs > likes attitude tiresome and...IDK, immature?

I mean, people aren't wrong to feel that way. People aren't wrong to want reblogs and wish their posts got more. Whenever I post something of my own, my insecure brain starts up a chant of "please get notes, please get notes, please if I could just have maybe fifteen or twenty notes so that I don't feel stupid and embarrassed for even posting the thing in the first place." So I absolutely know how it feels.

But with maturity comes the knowledge and acceptance that nobody owes you validation, and that you can't (and shouldn't try to) pressure/shame validation out of people. All you can do is work on what you're bringing to the situation.

Genre cliches are fine in themselves but cringey and annoying to people who aren't into that genre. The same is true with a lot of content created by and for nerds - it's basically harmless in itself and some people like it, but it's very distasteful and annoying to people who don't. There's nothing wrong with any side of that equation. Different strokes for different folks. It's bad when there's a gendered double standard about judging those things, but the existence of a double standard does not make cliches problematic, nor does it make Internet nerdbait problematic, nor does it make disliking either of those things problematic. Everyone just needs to chill the hell out and I include OP in that.
