It doesn’t help that the website completely overhauled its look and functionality (against the protests of pretty much everyone) and is now hideous and barely usable.

Yep. Good luck trying to find stock images.

Urgh so true :(

What pisses me of is that early on and for most of 2020 when they activated eclipse, the staff would constantly mock or flip off people with genuine complaints about the 'updates' (and yeah a lot were aggressive, but even people who were trying to be polite and understanding with their criticism were being treated just as badly) - its only now where the usage of the site has dropped significantly alongside people no longer buying their premium shit; that they're asking and making minimal changes for some of the problems raised way too late.

I only use it to look at cosplay pics but god damn there's an awful lot of weird alibaba style shops posting photos of merchandise - mass produced factories, not artists selling their art. I have to assume this is against ToS somehow but if DA isn't policing them, what's a dude to do?

I'm not bothered by the fetishists but there is literally no way to block fetish art from showing on your page. like, I have no issues with the furries at all but god damn stop showing me anthro art. why can't I block the weirdo posting gifs from 1970s Wonder Woman of Linda Carter tied up?? the site is literally impossible to use to only see the things you want to see and block the things you don't. all you can do is click "show less of this" over and over and over and hope that maybe someday you'll stop seeing photos of guns and schematics of warships and alternate history world maps.

Damn, I haven't thought about DA in ages.

It's been years out of DA, but I still remember the Llama thing. At the time it was more of you giving a Llama back than "buy from me".

Its really feels like losing out on fandom the same way it did with livejournal (yeah the site is running but before the Russian TOS update all the fan comms I was apart of were dead and moved over to tumble in 2012).

There's not really anywhere that's fanart friendly for fandom communities - although places like tumble and Instagram are OK in theory, the archiving for your older works are just awful.
