zombies have evolved before in film, the affect that these movies had on the modern zombie is enough for people to consider them apart of the zombie genre. it don't see why people get so offended about it anymore.

It's not offended but, the basic idea of a zombie is that they are UNDEAD. The people in those movies haven't died. They have a disease and act out. There's a difference. Yes, zombie movies will evolve but they don't change the basic concept.

I think the basic idea of zombie films is the terror of surviving them. Beings that are under some kind of influence that compells them to hurt, eat, tear apart the living. In the start zombies weren't always dead, they were under a voodoo spell. Romero's zombies ate flesh, and Boyle's infected are just the essence of what makes zombies scary, except worst, more possible. The idea behind 28 Days Later is that diseases and virus are always a threat to us, even in modern times. Sort of like the biohazards that kill and or transform the dead in more traditional modern zombie thrillers.

The filmmakers never claimed they were zombies, they got sorted into the group after people realized that the films themselves follow a lot of the same themes and motifs of other zombie films.

It's a spin on the zombie apocalypse, and I've listened to too many people cry and complain about it not being a zombie film like it hurt the genre when it only added another dimension. Romero didn't even consider his zombies zombies at first. And though I consider them the "infected" I recognize the changes that they presented for future zombie films, and have come to accept when other people think of them as zombies. Though, I will admit, I don't like when people watch the movies and don't acknowledge the differences. Like realizing that they're not modern-traditional. So I guess I'm kind of high horse about it sometimes.
