107. It's probably because you're definition of what a zombie is and everyone else's definition are different. It happens.

115. Well, sometimes it's too serious and people need the fandomness of it to cope without tearing their hair out. I know I sometimes do.

120. I still think it's bullshit. I loved Itachi as a bad guy and making him good just ruined the whole thing. But that's just my own personal opinion.

It's probably because no one but me seems to know what the dictionary definition of zombie is apparently.

You know, I'm sorry you are getting ragged on like this, but the problem is right there, you looked up the dictionary definition of Zombie rather than looking up the genre "zombie apocalypse." The genre, with pretty much exactly this scenario, has been around for decades and we've all bought into it. When we go to see a Zombie flick, 28 days is pretty much what we expect to see. People would actually be surprised to see the dictionary definition.

Dictionaries tend to be a bit behind the times on things, especially when it comes to pop culture. Language evolves. I remember I used to rate dictionaries on whether "Black Hole" meant a dungeon in Calcutta or an astronomical phenomenon -- and even as late as the late 1980's I'd find dictionaries that didn't have the astronomical definition in it.

While Wikipedia is not a hugely reliable font of info, when it comes to pop culture, it usually has it's finger on the pulse.

I tend to be more pedantic - I mean, I can be crazy-assed as the next person in Zombie canon, but with the movies it's more an inaccuracy that drives me bugshit.

Zombies are the living dead. A corpse, reanimated. This is the popular definition, which is occasionally spread out to encompass one who functions like an automaton.

28 days later? Nothing matches. They're batshit crazy, but on some fucked up level they're capable of planning and thought. They're not dead, they're insane. They're not reanimated corpses driven by the need to feed, they're humans stripped of all reasoning and empathy, driven by pure, blind rage. It's a reduction to complete animalism. They bite, but only as a means to inflict wounds as part of that rage, they lack even the basic capacity to feed themselves (hence them dying out of starvation) ...and contaminated blood is the best way to infect someone.

I didn't see much in the way of planning going on there. They can't even feed themselves much less plan an attack. They were pretty much lying around in a heap until someone walks into their perimeter and then they chase after them. They looked very much like the zombies from Night of the Living Dead or Shaun of the Dead or pretty much every other zombie apocalypse movie. There too, it's contamination that turns you into a zombie rather than a voodoo ritual.

28 days does not follow the typical virus-medical thriller formula, where the person shows symptoms and becomes weak and helpless before dying gruesomely, and the rush is to find the cause and a cure. Instead they show symptoms and then live on, and on, and on, but with nothing of their original personality, no ability to speak, no motivation except to attack. And that is the essence of the zombie genre: That you become a nameless, faceless, personality-less part of a mob. That even if you are technically alive, it's not you anymore. Your friends, relatives and loved ones are still physically alive, and yet are dead, a walking corpse -- a mockery of what they once were. How people turn into zombies is irrelevant -- window dressing. Usually it's not even mentioned.

Possibly. I couldn't even tell you myself as they tend to scare the shit out of me. XD

Walking Corpse. Although the voodoo premise is more to do with an automaton-like state passing as the living dead rather than actual reanimated corpse :) At any rate, the 28 days later infected do not pass - incoherent rage and brutal insanity on an apocalyptic level does not equal zombieism. In fact, it's pretty much equalling society today.

Sadly, I also have been known to get into arguments over "braiiiiiins" comments. ROMERO IS THE ONLY TRUE CANON*

Yeah because we all know that language never evolves and dictionary definitions are always accurate... d'oh.
