152....Babylon 5 takes way more from Mythology than it does Science Fiction. So some people were expecting this massive smack down, when that was never where it was headed. It's more fantasy than science fiction. It's like Lord of the Rings in space.

I really like Star Trek, grew up in a family of Trekkers, but I found it way too sterile and full of Mary Sues and Gary Stus.

I think, ultimately, it was less that it wasn't some big battle (because that wasn't what bugged me really), but the fact it happened less than half way through the season (and then that it was such a simple solution to it). If that episode had been at the end of season 4, and closed the season off, it wouldn't have bugged me so much, but it was just really odd to throw it in where it was.

They were very sure that they were getting canceled. They presumed that Season 4 was going to their last. So they kinda smooshed an entire extra season of plot into the 4th season.

I'm fully aware of this, however this fact doesn't take any of the annoyance away from how they ended that plot. It's one of the things that irritates me, that fans go on and on and on about how it was all planned out in advanced, yet the creator was constantly having to rearrange things to due actors leaving, threat of cancellation etc...

IMO, it's still better planned than most shows. Being planned in advance (that can be edited and reworked if need be) is better than what most shows have. *shrug* You are either gonna like it or not. It's not for everybody. And some bad fans can ruin things for other people, I had Supernatural and Harry Potter ruined by holer-than-thou fans.

I love the show to pieces. But I'm not going to say it doesn't have its flaws, the actors made jokes about much of the budget problems and are all around awesome about it. They worked on a horrible budget, I'm impressed they got half of it out the way they did. And for the most part, the fandom is pretty much dead. (As many of the actors have passed away.) So I have no idea where these rabid fans are. o_o

And anyways, Walter Koenig (Chekov), and Majel Berret (R.I.P), among others were in it. I think the whole Babylon 5 vs Star Trek thing is ridic. They has nothing in common, other than being in space.

*random thoughts are random*

Well, I know a lot of people in RL who are fans, unfortunately it was just the one who was a rabid one and really turned me off. That said, I enjoyed the show itself for the most part, just that one friend and what I've seen on the net (namely the whole DS9/B5 thing, and how they react to people who are DS9 and B5 fans) just made me not keen on it as a whole.

As for Star Trek, no, they didn't have much in common for the most part, but B5 fans accused DS9 of stealing B5's premise and stealing the creators idea, as he submitted his idea to that company, they rejected it, then they made DS9 about the same time as he managed to get another company to make it. I get why that would make some fans not like ST, but DS9 and B5 turned out so completely differently, especially since DS9 is set in the Trek verse, that at the end of the day, it didn't really affect either.
