Fave fic used to update every Saturday, stopped, nothing to look forward to. Meh. Time to dig up my archive of links to things I was too lazy to read when I found them.

Got up at 6:30 to go on a walk before it got unbearably hot. Got scared almost to death by my nephew while listening to a scary podcast. Finished my second Kodama. https://i.imgur.com/hC2djjn.jpg Took a nice nap and am now going to play some OW with my sister. Pretty good day.

Didn't go to bed until after 1 am because I was trying to catch my roommate's cat and bring him inside after my roommate gave up--I wish she'd just keep him in but on the other hand he's an escape artist and has broken out before.

After feeding my pets this morning I woke up at 4 pm with a headache. So far today is a wash. Took some ibuprofen and drank a bunch of water, gonna take a shower and if the headache goes away I'll drag my laundry to the laundromat.

Apparently am having an executive dysfunction weekend, since the two things I wanted to do are not getting done. I just cannot make myself even do things that would normally be fun. I made myself clean bunny boxes and take my walk along the trails but I just keep looking at other things I need to do "at some point" or things I normally enjoy and kinda make a move towards them and "...Eh." and give up and keep lying in bed reloading stuff even though the pain is not quite as bad as it had been the last couple days.

Trying to make myself make some custom designs in Animal Crossing just because there is absolutely no deadline on that or any way I can really let myself down, since there are other things out there made by other people I could use for this purpose if I can't get this how I want it.

I have a book to read for book club and plans to go to the Mall!

Watching an Icelandic Netflix show, Katla, which is pretty cool, with supernatural-y overtones (so far). Enjoying it a lot, and hoping for a second season.

The thing I like the most about the non-American shows on Netflix is that, for the most part, when something weird or crazy or scary happens, everybody isn't instantly reaching for a gun and going to shoot at things. That's refreshing.

I had to go to work for half a day today for inventory, which was super boring but at least my boss bought us all lunch. Came home, took a nap, painted my nails, and read more chapters of my current book than I really planned to. Now I'm resisting going to bed because I lost half my Saturday, dammit.

I took a very long nap today. 4 hours. Was not intending to sleep that long, but I guess I needed it.

Currently working on a fanwork for a group project and still have no idea how much of a chance I have in even finishing it. But at least I'm working on it. Also currently debating whether or not I want to continue participating in another group thing that everyone seems extremely passive about. I guess it might help if I were to just state where I stand. Maybe everyone else will be inclined to do the same.

I have next week off because HR thought I was getting burn-out. I spent all day in bed bingewatching TNG and being sober, and it must have worked, because I woke up rested at five.

I love friends to lovers.

I'll read a sugar daddy fic regardless of the fandom. I also love mob/mafia AUs. Hurt/Comfort is probably my most tagged trope (genre)?

Soulmates. There are so many variations. I like all the different ways people come up with.
Daddy fics that are not D/S

My partner used to say that she liked any pairing where they called each other "old friend", and that is a pretty good summary of one of them. Particularly if they've had a falling out or were otherwise forced apart, but find each other again. Related, reincarnated multiple times and always finding each other.

Less specific, hurt/comfort in general, especially if it's whumpy. I looooove writing stuff that breaks characters. Generally I like putting them back together too, but I will concede that when I think of a way to really, really hurt a character, that's when I'm grinning like a fiend.

Most anything else more specific than that, it's specific to a particular fandom/pairing. Like with my fave OTP, I loooooove me some S&M and bloodplay. On the other hand, most of my other preferred pairings just do not lend themselves to it so easily

The cheesy “oh no, there’s only one bed”. I don’t mind how contrived the reasons are as long as my favorite pairing gets to share a bed. Also cuddling. I’d rather read cute cuddling scenes over makeout scenes.

Femdom

dom/sub where the sub is physical stronger or some way stronger than the dom and is choosing to submit because they trust the dom

dom/sub with no humiliation and lots of praise and taking care of the sub

dom/sub where the sub is enthusiastic and making suggestions and possibly more experienced than the dom

Praise kink/voice kink in general. Just lots of both people praising each other and talking dirty to each other in ways that enhance the whole experience.

Telepathic kink I guess? Where the characters have some kind of magic/telepathic bond, and one of the characters uses it to pleasure the other or they both do for each other.

Sex scenes that are entirely focused on one partner. Not that the whole relationship is, but this one time someone is really turned on and the other person focuses entirely on their partner's needs. And then maybe next time they switch it around.

Threesomes. Any kind. Especially where everyone plays with everyone.

Oral sex-only scenes.

Dom/sub where the dynamic is switched from what is expected. Maybe the one who is the real life boss subs. Maybe the bigger one subs. Just, playing with dynamics and expectations is hot to me.

"Need you now" kinds of scenes where the characters are so turned on they don't have time for foreplay or anything but just having each other right now.

Fuck or die, bed sharing, unrealistic jealousy or lust, and friends to lovers

Lots, oh man, lots.

I'll talk about an odd one: Puppy Play. I've never tried it in real life but I love it in fiction when the dominant partner is loving and affectionate but also condescending and authoritarian. And the submissive partner is all playful and sweet and eager to please but also helpless and humiliated and desperate. I just, oh I fall apart when it's done just the right way.

A lot of my favorites tropes are specific to a particular OTP, but for some general ones:

-Informal D/s dynamics

-H/C that’s heavy on the hurt (but preferably no sexual assault).

-My ship being very protective of each other (but not in a controlling way).

-Slowwwww burn with LOTS of angst and pining and UST.

-Anything involving sexy biological imperatives, but where the characters still retain the ability to choose what they do and don’t do.

-When the characters have sex, call it a mistake, agree to never do it again, and then like 24 hours later they do it again (and again, and again).

-Absolutely Nightmares being subby bottoms for their Sweaterboys.

-The Sweaterboy character being a total BAMF.

-Fics that marry brutal shit and tenderness/sensitivity.

-NGL, if I could have knotting and self-lubricating butts in all the smut I read, regardless of whether it’s ABO or not, I would be very, very happy.

-Fics that start with Fuck Or Die/Aliens Made Then Do It/Sex Pollen and then spend the next twenty chapters dealing with the fallout of those events.
