Even if they'd follow the novel very closely, it would be a while until any actual love declarations because it's another slow burn. And definitely not in this season. However, I do think they lay it on fairly heavily and obviously with the implications so far for a Chinese series. But it still is a series with plenty of chances of plausible deniability so I really doubt this will be the series to change censorship laws.

Not to mention that China doesn't care all that much about international releases. BL content has been very financially successful in China for a while so if greed was what changes their minds, it would already have happened.

The way it is now works too well for them to change anything as well- adapt all sorts of BL content but censor it to hell and back - it still makes money, and more than if it was just BL because that way you can trick homophobes into buying it as well as the fans of the original BL novels.
