DA - I think this is true of both Elizabeth and Darcy in the book. They both have personality flaws that are much more distinct and apparent in the book. I mean, I feel like JA's most outstanding strength as a writer was her almost innate understanding of how different personalities function. All of her characters are distinct, and all of her characters make sense. The way they behave and think feels cohesive, like, OMG, I totally know people like this!

The Lizzy and Darcy of the 2005 movie definitely have personalities, but they're much less distinct and cohesive than the characters in the book. They're a bit more general.

(That said, I still prefer the 2005 movie, it's a beautiful, delicious joy of a movie that I will love for all eternity.)
