Yeah, but also, everyone became fat and helpless and disconnected from everyone else. And everyone was constantly bombarded by corporate marketing 24/7 when there was only one corporation. The HUGE AWESOME SPACESHIP was really a bad place to be.

Are you kidding me?! That movie made me want to hit the gym like nothing else, I was so squicked after seeing those fat blobs of people!

They were enthusiastic to get started, that doesn't necessarily mean rebuilding humanity is going to be easy for them. The movie focused on the emotional victory of the humans deciding to change things, instead of being completely grim and realistic (which would have been a pretty lame downer ending, you have to admit).
