This brought me back to the summer of 2019 when the entire GoT fandom turned into a Hatedom.

That was so cathartic after GOT had been a mess since the Dorn plot. Everyone had been saying "Hold on!" "The story is building!" "It's all going somewhere!" "Trust the story tellers!" and then the world caught on that telling a story poorly for three seasons isn't going to magically resolve into a great ending and I was exuberant.

While I had my doubts about some of the changes, ultimately, the story was SUPPOSED to be going somewhere. But D&D just kind of forgot that things actually tie together and past references aren't some superficial thing or an item on a checklist. Oh, and that their need to squeeze out drama for an award is not a substitute for bad writing.

In the end, it did go somewhere. That place just happened to be hell.
