Oh, bloom isn't dangerous to eat! Sorry, I wasn't clear: when chocolate gets a little old, it gets bloom, which is caused by air and moisture affecting the sugar and fat in the chocolate. Bloom isn't dangerous, it's just a bit icky looking, and you can get rid of it by melting the chocolate and re-setting it; but it *does* affect the taste and texture (for me), and it's usually too much bother to fix.
Honestly, when it comes to sweets you're usually pretty safe? Like, with rock candy and so forth, that stuff is basically immortal, as far as I know.
