I have not seen him in a lot, and certainly not Saw, but honestly I think horror acting is actually more difficult than it seems. He's fine in comedies, imo.

I haven’t seen it, but wouldn’t be surprised if he struggled with serious horror acting. I’ve always found him good in more campy comedy roles and the skill set doesn’t necessarily translate.

I'm another person who hasn't seen much of what he's been in, but he was very enjoyable to watch in The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Psych.

He's also not bad in "Glory" (which is historical drama).

I'm not sure I care too much. Even if he does have limits to his range, I still find him charming.

Am I misremembering, or did he really struggle with his accent in Saw? That might have contributed to a less-than-stellar performance.

He did. A couple times he went full English.
