Obligatory "These are games where mediums not only channel ghosts but take on weird parts of their physical appearance and you can have a parrot testify in court all with nobody batting an eye, and THAT'S what bothers you?"

Or is it for some reason other than just the general unrealisticness of the concept?

I feel like that's always a weird argument to bring up in fantasies/fantastic settings. Yes, it can still be weird if it's not something established or otherwise. Just because there are fantastical elements doesn't mean it throws everything out the window.

Ah yes the "my european medieval fantasy can have dragons and fairies, but black people are out of the question" defense.

Um, I am definitely not one of those people and don't appreciate being lumped in with them.

I'm more implying things like on tvtropes where it's like "oh there are actual gods in this reality but this person still is atheist" when, no, gods in the sense of powerful beings that were worshiped exist, but that doesn't mean a God exists or that they're all responsible for everything. Also I think that the human mind adapts to what becomes their "normal" so something like magic and more powerful beings can be the norm and still something like aliens can be something they never imagined.

That's the thing with suspension of disbelief. Your worldbuilders can decide that ghosts exist and that mediums can channel them, and as long as it fits into the world they've built, the audience is fine with it. But one off the wall, poorly-established element can throw the whole illusion out of whack.

OK, would it have been better if I replaced all that with "wacky unrealistic over-the-top characters"? Because that works too. A little kid with a medical degree isn't out of place in the AA universe in any sense.

everyone has their wacky limits. I don't personally think Ace Attorney precludes this, but I could understand why people would, considering the what I remember about having certain occupations in the original
