(Anonymous) 2021-07-15 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)It's funny, because on the one hand, tennis has such a low barrier to entry. The court is free, there's usually one not too far away from any neighborhood where people live, and you can almost always find cheapo second hand rackets at thrift stores.
But on the other hand, the amount of time you have to put in before you can actually play a game of tennis is insane. We had to practice off of a backboard for several days just to get good enough to hit the ball back and forth on an actual court. And we've now played about twenty sessions on a court, just hitting the ball back and forth, and we are still nowhere near good enough to actually play against each other. We are very much still in the "playing cooperatively" stage.
I'm enjoying it. But it's kind of wild how long the learning curve is.
