I've introduced at least a dozen people to the idea of podcasts (family and coworkers). Inevitably they all go thru a True Crime phase that I have to drag them out (and yell at them not to listen to Sword and Scale lol). They always become more paranoid and anxious. Consuming that much true crime at once really is bad for you.

I'm sorry, nonny. I find true crime soothing, mostly because it's awful, horrible stuff but it's all real and I find that it helps ground me when my brain decides to default to irrational nightmare-mode.

I recently started shipping something new and saw a similar debate. It's not the biggest discussion surrounding the pairing or the characters, but still... I thought we'd left those arguments behind years ago.

It'd be one thing if people just stated preferences for what they liked to read, but no, 'A is obviously the bottom, because of reasons x, y, and z'. And if you believe otherwise you're not a 'true' shipper or a newbie who doesn't get it or some other nonsense.

Seriously, what? Maybe it's this one fandom, but lately a lot of convos have me flashing back to the early 2000s.

Finally, OP: yes, fantastic, keep doing what you're doing, be the change, etc.

Trying to recover from Go Fest day 2. Spent 2-3 hours out of the house in 87 degree sunny weather, and it was nice, and I ran into people I knew, and got over a million XP... but in order to be able to function and be upright that long I couldn't eat or drink anything for a couple days. Now I know I should get back to eating and drinking but it was so nice to be functional, and no matter how thirsty I am, even having some delicious drink in my mouth triggers my gag reflex. -_- I hate my stupid body.
