I'm in the fandom, but I haven't seen the Twihard levels of insanity the OP has.

I don't post on any boards though, mainly just in fic comms. So maybe I am missing the crazy, idk.

Twilight levels of insanity would be hard to reach, I think. But I can see the potential for idiocy so well with this movie.

This secret actually kinda makes me want to check fandom out.

I agree. There's a lot of blind devotion among fans. If you can intelligently express why you think it's amazing, that's awesome. But there are also a lot of people who seem to just need something to obsess over.

Of the two LJ comms I'm a member of for the film, people are generally really polite, and it's definitely becoming more active, writing-wise.

Amber/Luigi are my otp. And for some reason, I've been writing in-character haiku for them. wtf, self?

I'm cool with people just needing something to obsess over, as long as they don't go apeshit on people who don't need the obsession.

The haiku (http://pellnell.livejournal.com/170858.html) started as this sort of cracky idea, but it's turned into this weird creative outlet.

That's awesome. I love how it sounds totally cracky, but it works. Kudos!

I'm not in the fandom, but from what I've seen on F!S and other places around LJ, I'm not really impressed. I mean, generalizations are bad, but when you have people going "Oh, I guess there are spoilers if you haven't seen the movie yet = /" when it had only been out for a few days, or people calling you an uncultured moron for thinking it's a musical, and "can't people tell the difference? It's a /rock opera/. = /", it's not a good impression to leave.

I'm in the fandom and I try to warn for movie spoilers before fic-cuts 'cos, seriously, when it's a small movie and not everybody's had a chance to see it, it's just polite.

As for the opera/musical thing, I figure that it's there in the title, so I don't understand where the confusion comes from.

I'm all for spoiler warnings, but when people word is so it seems like they're saying "Oh, I guess ~~some people~~ haven't seem it yet. Shame on them. Oh well, I suppose you shouldn't look at this then." Especially back when the movie was barely playing anywhere, and it was impossible to get to.

Yeah, I'm thankful I haven't seen any of that personally because that is just an asshole thing to do.

Rock opera my ass. A musical is a musical. e.e A ~*~rock opera~*~ is a kind of musical that got its name from ~*~rock stars~*~ who didn't want their pet project to be associated with Those Broadway Fags.
