Man, I'm wishing I could go back and edit that comment, now. I'm not trying to imply that all people who draw Zuko/Katara art have purely superficial reasons for doing so.
I was specifically thinking of casual fans who aren't particularly invested in the show or the ship -- they just want to draw something pretty and hot for a show they just watched, and if they are only going to draw one pretty/hot piece of Avatar fanart it usually ends up being Zutara. I've been in fandom a long time and I've seen this happen over and over and over again.
Of course the more serious shippers have more deeply felt reasons, but there are mountains of explicitly superficial (as in, the notes on the art itself make that superficiality very clear) Zutara art, as well, and I'll freely admit that over time the trend has made me a little irritable.
Of course, if that's not what you meant, uh....well, what did you mean?

I'm feeling particularly irritated today because of stuff that's happened online this week regarding certain specific people in fandom. One of my artist friends who has chosen, for her own reasons, not to draw any Zuko/Katara art has been the target of a lot of harassment recently, and it's hard to watch that without becoming a little resentful about the whole thing.
But I'm sorry if that negativity leaked into my comment unintentionally.
