THERE'S A FANDOM FOR THIS?
Please, tell me where to find said Yume Nikki fandom, I've been wanting it so badly. All I can find are some Yutube videos and a couple pictures on Deviant Art that are mostly of Uboa... Even if you hate the fandom, point me in its direction, please?
I've tried to get my friends into it, too. They also don't seem to care.

It's scattered to the five winds. There's not really a FANDOM per se, mostly just people musing about it on various message boards and the few RPers there are.

But http://mikuchan.net/onoff/ is probably the closest thing this game has to a centralized fandom.

"Hate" is probably a bit strong of a word... But I don't care for a lot of people's theories, and a lot of them are really depressing. On top of that the game's "plot" is a bit of a touchy subject for me, as last year I essentially became a college hikikomori and wrestled with a pretty deep depression. I managed to get out of it on my own, but playing this game later helped me reflect and move on. I don't think a lot of the speculating fans "get it", if that makes sense. But now I sound like a whiny bitch, soooo. >>

For a more logical, less emo reason, a lot of the fans are just fucking WEIRD, and only seem to notice specific characters in the plot. There's all kinds of characters that do weird stuff, but nobody really focuses on anyone but the girls and Masada.

Thankyouthankyou! I'm not familiar with the chans and it's a little NSFW, but... other people who like the game! and pretty fanarts! (Now, have you seen fanfic anywhere? I asked for it on the rec meme but last time I checked, nobody responded.)

Are you referring to the theories that the game suggests Madotsuki suffered some kind of horrible trauma (the one I've heard most was rape) before the game, and that if you look hard enough it's suggested in her dreams? I don't really like those, either. I'm guessing she might have had some bad experiences socially, or just an overall lack of good ones, if she decided that dealing with the outside world isn't worth it, but sometimes a hikkikomori is just a hikkikomori. It's sad that she's trapped herself like that even if it's not because horrible things happened to her. (I do, however, like the weird theory that the end of the game was still part of her dream, to say it in a way without spoilers.)

There are so many theories and possibilities, I just like thinking about them all. :o I like theorizing about the various figments rather than Madotsuki herself, though.

Pfff, Kyukyu-kun's lucky; he's actually got a name. >_>; I don't even know if say, the scarf girl or the sleeping girl do. (The scarf girl would seriously be my second choice of character to RP; she's awesome.) And there's so many other random critters and things you could put character to, and who are just as bloody interesting as Masada or Poniko. :/ I think that blue goopy thing in the sewers that gets a face on it when you stab it is one of the creepier things in the game, and I want to see characterization ideas for like the dead guy or the yuki-onna or the faceless fisherman and all. (I think I've seen the fisherman in like, ONE piece of fanart ever? Maybe two?)

Cause yeah, Masada/Poniko/Monoko/Monoe aren't the only figments there. XD; And they're not the only unique ones either.

But theorizing the figments is sort of like theorizing about Madotsuki, right? Unless her dream world is like the way that some adaptations portray Wonderland (where Alice goes there when she dreams, but it exists independently from her), the dream world reflects her state of mind/fears/interests, sort of.
It would be kind of interesting if it was independent from her, though. *hypocritical anon goes wild with the batshit theories nao*

Do you mean the sleeping girl in the snow world with the gun? Yeah, I wanted to know why she was there, and why she had a gun. (maybe I'm remembering it wrong?) I like Masada and Poniko and the girls in the creepy black and white doodly world, but yeah, more characters getting fans would be nice. Though I'm happy fandom likes Poniko, since I really liked her but all you could do in game was stab her or turn her into an Uboa.

It is! But more indirect. It's more like breaking the whole thing down and focusing on one small aspect at a time. Picking out why something manifested and became personified the way it did. Although, I tend to look at it like even though the whole dream world was spawned from Mado's mind, experiences, and overall psyche, parts of it that have so strongly manifested in such a broken mind HAVE started to become independent... X3 Maybe that's cause I'm such a vivid dreamer myself and feel like my own headspace does that, though.

Yeah, her! (She does have a gun? I've seen art of her with one, but never noticed it in the game itself... hmmm, I'll have to double-check.) The scarf girl is the one who's normally invisible except for her hat and scarf, in the world with all the purple and green blocks. (If you use the stoplight on her you can remove her invisibility.)

Poniko actually seems to have a surprisingly strong presence in the fandom, yeah. I've got tons of awesome fanart of her and stuff. :3

Yeah, I checked and it had all of nothing. Someone should make a new one, for no other reason than that it could lead to the existance of fic. I've seen like... one on deviantart that was just Madotsuki killing Poniko a lot. It was really well-written, but it would be nice if there was fic that was a little less disturbing, too.

I sorta like to think that even after the ending, which I will again vaguely allude to in case someone's reading that's still playing (like that many people actually play Yume Nikki...) the dream world still exists. I know chances are it doesn't, but the game makes you kind of attached to it and all.

Yeah! She has a gun, I'm pretty sure. I hate the scarf girl, though, takes me like ten tries to get through to the one door that's the shortcut to the doodly world. It's not her fault she's bad at teleporting me, but still...

Most of my Yume Nikki fanart I've saved is Poniko-related, too. Still needs more Kyukyu-kun, though.

Yeah! I've seen a number of fanart/fanvids/whatev implying that Mado just goes straight back to her dream world after the ending. So creepy, but you DO get attached to it. All its odd little nooks and crannies...

I just went and stared at her (cause I'm a dork, derpaderp) and... I didn't really see a gun? Maybe like five black pixels that could possibly be construed as one if you squint. Ah, I'll go look at the sprites on RPG Maker next time I boot up my laptop. Maybe it's just an angle we can't see normally or something.

I'm so tempted to make a Kyukyu-kun account and go drop it on some random dressing room RP as a crack event, now. Just to see how many people are completely creeped out by the big neon rubbery thing with a smiley face doing nothing but sitting there... rubbing. And how many people recognize him. :D

Less disturbing as in... less flat-out disturbing. I more wanna read the stuff which has Madotsuki develop some kind of connection with the dream world people, whether it's Poniko or Masada or whoever, or seeing what kind of relationship the dream people have with each other. Or even just taking a character and looking at their personality. Doesn't mean horribly disturbing things won't happen, just that people would interact with each other or show personality along the way. I needs some character expansion plz. (Yesss. Please help a comm exist! I'd be eternally grateful and draw it some crappy fanarts.)

Did you see the one where the dream world people come catch her? That one was so cute but godawful depressing... Though that one was them coming to her, maybe. The ending makes sense, but I want it to be different... Hey, was it ever spelled out that that had to happen? Maybe she goes on dreaming as long as you want her to go on dreaming, and it's up to you rather than some canonical event whether you kill her. (lawl the masquerade is broken!)

I need to go look at scarf girl's non-invisible form, too. I never tried the stoplight on a lot of them, since I spent most of the game on the bike to go fast. Oh, and what about ghost Madotsuki- why do we never hear about ghost Madotsuki, outside of let's-analyze-her-psyche-to-death threads?

Kyukyu-kun? I'm pretty much grinning ear to ear just picturing that, you really should do it! (I wonder if the explanation for Kyukyu-kun is weirder than Kyukyu-kun himself- "oh, he's from this game about a girl having nightmares. You meet him by a stair. He rubs it!")

I've actually heard that a lot of people prefer not to dump the effects and end the game, but just to keep the save there and keep playing and exploring. :3

Do you know the speed trick? It makes the bike look like peanuts, but it'll be canceled if you use any effects during it. And yeah, Ghost Mado! Definitely worth a look. Closet!Mado too!

Hurrrrr, SO tempted. XD; Capslock Dressing Room, I'm thinking. I know there's one person there with a bunch of random Yume Nikki accounts that never show up unless the game is mentioned (or the lights go out). Should be fun... *stalker lol*

To do the speed trick, when you first enter the dream, go sit on the chair at Mado's desk. Turn so you face out, then open up the menu and use one of your effects (bike works best.) Then leave the chair by hitting enter, and wham! Super-speed Mado!

Well, the Poniko one did. Mostly they just dorked around.
