Writers of FS, where and when do you write?

I usually write before bed but I'm finding myself too tired to get anything done lately.

I can hardly write when it's not dark. I don't know if it's my natural nocturnalism or the fact that I used to write fic while I was working third shift, between customers. (Or some kind of subconscious thing because I tend to write "dark" stuff? *shrug*) I dunno what it is with this one character, he seems to like to give me good stuff while I'm actually trying to sleep - I gave in and turned on the lights and laptop again at 1:30am the other night because I hadn't touched any of my writing for a week.

As for where, same place I do everything these days - in bed with the laptop.

I read the other day that we tend to perceive after ours as our own time, and that's when we do the things we really want to do. But because our lives are so busy, it tends to be middle of the night.

I used to pull writing all nighters, but it was messing with my health so I had to stop. Although I feel better for it, it's depressing me because I never get to write anymore. :/

That does make sense. Not sure it's the case for me, because at several points in my life, I was writing fic either on breaks (at the USPS job we sometimes ran out of mail and had to wait for the next trucks) or between customers (not a lot from 2:30-5:30 at the gas station) at work during third shift. XD Though that was kind of "my own time", at least at the gas station, since I was locked into a building alone for 6 hours every night. (I loved that aspect.)

I hope you can find some more healthy time for you to write, anon. I have some experience with "can't write because of health" and it was so frustrating. :/

My favorite writing time is between ten at night and one in the morning because everybody’s asleep.

Honestly? I only seem to be productive when not at home (ie at the mechanics, any waiting area, etc). Which sucksssss.

I think it's a focus thing tbh. Like, if I am home my brain goes, "Oh I could watch TV, or play video games, or clean, or..."

Whereas if I am somewhere else I just... "Okay let's write!"

I write when the inspiration strikes and I have the time. Often it is later in the day because that seems to be when I get inspired more often. It has been a while since I wrote, and I have several WIPS that I'd love to get back to. Inspiration has been slow lately, though, and my life has gotten more busy.

I'm most productive in the middle of the night. IDK if it's my teen writing habits coming back to haunt me, but last night I was still up at 3AM writing.

There are some days where I'm afforded a whole day to writing (like a Saturday). There's certain levels of procrastination throughout the day, but there are some days where I get so much writing done.

Whenever I can fit it in. I've trained myself to write in 15-minute bursts. Breaks, lunch, after work but before dinner, after dinner but before bed. Occasionally even before work.
