I've seen people accuse Reddit of many things, such as being a liberal hellscape, SJW cucks, etc., etc., but this is the first time I've seen all of Reddit be called antis.

Two possibilities:

1) It was just a one-off thread, and people who had a username attached didn't want to voice their contrary opinion that aged-up NSFW art of underage characters is sexy.

2) Aged-up NSFW art of underage characters being sexy is a proshipper opinion that IS NOT a common opinion, and probably why no one in Possibility #1 wanted to own up to it.

Addendum to #2: Reddit is also a website that has had serious problems with IRL child-porn communities, and people being ironically into bad things and then turning serious about it (cough cough T_D cough cough). To prevent subreddits from eventually being sunk by the people who are serious about IRL children being sexy, there ironically enough has to be strong moderation which I don't think fits very well into the proshipper mindset. Regular non-creeper redditors do not care about the nuance of aged-up NSFW art of fictional characters because of how often "haha I'm not being serious" spirals out of control, and it's probably for the best.

It also could be the makeup of the subreddit. I joined one for a fandom I like and it's usually great, but antis pop up in every thread even tangentially about the "problematic" aspects of the genre.

I'm going to hold my judgment on anyone called an anti until they send death threats, or doxx people. If there are legit problematic elements to an story (of which is inevitable for anime, I say as an anime fan), then yeah discuss that if it helps out. I listen to a lot of podcasts which critique stories, and sometimes some of the people on them have the occasional negative things to say about some story aspects which I think are valid. Some of my comfort shows have areas that I think they're weak at, but I still think they're enjoyable. Sometimes critiquing things from a literary standpoint is fun, and unfair to be called an anti over.

Criticism is one thing, false accusations of pedophilia are entirely another. Death threads and doxxing aren't required - the slander/libel is more than enough.

Basically. I look at it like this.

"I don't look at art or fic of underage characters in sexual situations because I think it's gross and it makes me uncomfortable." -- Not an anti.

"Art and fic of underage characters in sexual situations is gross pedo shit. Why are there so many pedos in fandom. Freaks." -- Definitely an anti, even if they don't doxx or threaten anyone.

Don't forget the "if you age-up a child character so they're no longer underage you're still a pedophile" antis.

These are the ones I see the most of. I’m not sure I understand their logic because what they’re essentially saying is “it’s wrong to like kids when they grow up” but that’s literally just how things work irl - you’re a kid, you grow up, and then you do “adult things” with other adults that used to be kids too.

OK - so we're now officially acknowledging that people get called antis even if they don't doxx or threaten people? So we can abandon that whole thing for good now, right?

If the idea of being called an anti bothers you so much, you could just try minding your own business about other people's ships. It's very unlikely to happen to you if you do that, and it's free.

It's simply dishonest to keep repeating that "only people who doxx or threaten get called antis" when that's obviously not true. It just isn't correct.

Well, not all antis are an actual threat. Some are just a pain in the ass.

Nobody said that, stop making shit up. In all the discussions with you, most people say that yes, antis actually do occasionally do harm whenever you pretend they're completely harmless. You don't have to doxx or threaten someone to still be an obnoxious anti.

And from the way you behave, you sound a lot like an anti who bitches at people for their shipping preferences, got called out for it and is now pissy.

I think it's hilarious that they keep whining about "everything even mildly critical gets you called an anti these days waah" and then turn around and think any criticism of their own stupid arguments is "hate".

If you’re looking for indicators of who’s attracted to children, “this drawing that isn’t a drawing of children” probably isn’t a good way to find out.

This secret isn't even about all of Reddit, it's about a single subreddit.

You show up in every single thread about antis and every single time people have to explain to you that anis aren't strictly people who doxx or death threat, but it's a major part of their MO. It's time to stop coming into these threads, boo.
