[Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles]

Fai and Kurogane were one of my first OTPs and I still love them. I don't know what it says about me, but I must admit that I like it when they punch each other. Anger born of worry is one of my favorite tropes in fiction.

I know! My thoughts exactly! I love the ship, hate the hitting.

I never read or watched TRC, but I feel you. I had the same reaction in Fullmetal Alchemist when Winry would hit Ed for ruining her automail even though it almost always got ruined because he'd been injured. In my case it got to the point where I couldn't even ship it anymore. I know anime tends to be overdramatic and you're supposed to just know that whoever's being hit isn't actually going to be further injured from it, but it still rubs me the wrong way.

A little off topic but--did the manga ever conclude? What happened to them in the end??

Yes, it finished at 28 volumes. As for what happened...oof. Where did you leave off?

There's a three-volume (completed!) sequel series, too.

I don't know how far you got into the manga and my memory is a bit murky since it's been a while but SPOILERS

Kuro loses an arm trying to save Fai (long story but he lives) and Fai becomes a vampire who can only drink from Kurogane's blood. Some angst ensues but they get over it and start acting more chummy. They get sidelined at the end of the manga (like they are there but the story focuses more on Syaoran) but at the end of the manga they end up travelling with Syaoran and Mokona to different dimensions.

Also the sequel is very wholesome and they are like doting parents to Syaoran.

LOL Yeah. I didn't mind the hitting but hitting WHILE injured is a big no-no for me. At least say you'll hit them later when they recover!
