...I dunno, it's definitely more interesting and unique, but agreeing with the anon who said the shape is kinda... meh.

But maybe that makes it more realistic? She was supposed to be a high-schooler, after all. Occasionally you see those contests where girls make their own prom dresses and they come up with something spectacular, but when I was in high school and drawing lots of character designs (admittedly for like, fantasy characters and superheroes) I came up with some ideas that I thought at the time were cool but later on recognized were kinda dumb and wouldn't work on a real body.

Or maybe it's something about 80s style that I just don't get. I mean I lived through the 80s and I still don't understand wtf was up with "fashion" in the 80s. XD

yeah, a lot of 80's fashion didn't look great IMHO

No, it looked ugly in the 80s, too. (I was just out of college when the movie came out.)

I think when you've lived through it, you're more aware of how lame it was. That's how I feel about 00s throwback fashion. I'm like, fuck you kids this stuff was awful okay??

I think the shoulders and lace insert look great, but it needs a waist.

Exactly. It shows promise, and IMO with a few little tweaks it could look really good on her. Take in the waist a bit, maybe a little flare at the bottom, etc.

(Note: I would not pick apart the fashion designs of an actual teenager, especially one working with a garment that only had so much fabric in it to rearrange, unless they requested it.)
