I ran the clock up to 99 hours forging and optimizing utterly insane "kill everything in one hit" weapons
It always cracks me up to level up to that point. Technically this doesn't fall under forging, but in Xenosaga 3, you can acquire a giant robot (called Erde Kaiser Sigma) that basically ruins every battle, including boss battles, from that point forward. But it's so hilarious to do so.

Hahaha, yes. It's just fun to cruise through and TOTALLY DESTROY everything. Even back in the days of Final Fantasy 1, I found it amusing to go back to the first areas of the game once I was close to the end and cast NUKE on the little imps with 6HP. :D

In the game in question, Vagrant Story, you can combine weapons dropped by enemies to make more powerful weapons of various materials, PLUS you can add gems to make them more powerful against enemy types or elements, PLUS there are training dummies you can just beat on to improve your weapons' stats against the different enemy types. I had waaaay too much fun making the best weapon of each type, then forging/training a single katana that was +160 against every type/element.

I recorded a later playthrough of the game to put on YouTube for friends who couldn't play it, and people were accusing me of having used a Gameshark. No, I'm just completely nuts and a master of procrastination.
