from: https://www.healthline.com/health/transgender/difference-between-transgender-and-transsexual

"The word “transgender” is an umbrella term that describes those who have a gender that’s different from the sex assigned at birth: male, female, or intersex.
“Transsexual” is a more specific term that fits under the transgender umbrella. This word can be contentious and shouldn’t be used unless someone specifically asks to be referred to this way.
-
Historically and medically, the term transsexual was used to indicate a difference between one’s gender identity (their internal experience of gender) and sex assigned at birth (male, female, or intersex).
More specifically, the term is often (though not always) used to communicate that one’s experience of gender involves medical changes, such as hormones or surgery, that help alter their anatomy and appearance to more closely align with their gender identity.

Further, some transgender people find the word transsexual to be offensive and stigmatizing. This is because of its history and roots in the professional fields of medicine and psychology, which used this term to incorrectly label all transgender people as mentally ill or sexually deviant.
-
Transgender tends to be more inclusive and affirming than transsexual because it includes the experience of those who pursue medical changes to affirm gender as well as those who do not. "

There's a lot more in the article if you want to actually read it - I doubt that you will, but I'm pretending for a second that you might actually want to try educating yourself instead of wanting to be spoon-fed every bit of information because inevitably spewing it up in insistent disagreement.

Okay well I WAS going to say thanks, right up until you suddenly turned asshole in that last line. So... Thanks and go fuck yourself I guess?

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome and will do :)

I'm so sorry. It must be so exhausting being so much better than everybody else. :(

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
it really is.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
A note for ayrt: For the record, this nonny isn't... anon YOU replied to.

Also, nonny I'm replying to, don't be an ass. ayrt is making conversation, which is a good thing. You want them to educate themselves? You realize asking people for information is one way to get educated, yes? Or do you just want to shame people for not obtaining information in a manner of which you approve?

There will always be someone resists the validity of these terms, but you're not going to make any friends or allies by automatically assuming the worst of anyone who's curious about them (no pun intended).

Anon-who-asked-the-question

Thank you, to be honest I don't expect people to do my emotional labour for me about a lot of things, but I will be honest that there are certain things I am hesitant to 'just google it omg' because lets be honest, the google is notoriously full of misleading and contradicting information and I honestly figured someone might have a good reliable source (as butthole anon did).

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hi, as the anon who just posted the excerpts from the articles with my own asshole addition at the end - I went on duckduckgo.com for my search engine, typed in 'the difference between transgender and transsexual' and just clicked on one of the first articles at random.
Just saying because there might be better articles with more details available there as well as mentioning an alternative to google because you're right that google can be misleading.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, thank you. :)

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's miserable being such a misanthrope, anon. Maybe if you work on being less of one, you'll get nicer and people will like you.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
nah.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing you're the OP who made this secret.

(Anonymous) 2021-07-29 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. Trollish secret, combined with trollish counter-comment.

Solid trolling, D- for human decency, though.
