103. I kind of hate myself for knwoing this, but that's WoW porn, though the Tauren does make it count as furry, I'd imagine.

118. So do I. I hate that cliched tough manly seme/wheepy feminine uke crap. I hate that it's so prevalent. I hate that so many people squee over it and that people who don't like it are automatically homophobes. So yeah.

139. They'll take anything half-decently drawn, so there's quite a bit of money in it. But at the same time, do you really want to do something you hate? Even if it means getting to do something you love eventually?

162. Target shooting is some of the most fun I've had in my life. I honestly don't get why people don't like firearms. What's so terrifying or repugnant about them? It's not like they'll jump off the table (or out of the safe or whatever) and shoot you on their own. That is to say, I don't understand it. That doesn't mean I don't respect your opinion, though. If you don't like them, you don't like them.

I HATE HET

OH MAN YOU'RE SO ORIGINAL. =| HOLY SHIT.

Perhaps I should clarify a bit. When I talk about yaoi, I'm talking about that specific little cliched niche. I got no problem with slash in general. I ship a few of 'em myself.

Re: I HATE HET

(Anonymous) 2009-02-17 02:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I love slash and hate yaoi. Seriously. I came here to read romance that isn't reliant on gender roles, so of course I hate yaoi!

Re: I HATE HET

You're an idiot.

Re: I HATE HET

Damn, that's one great comeback you've got there.

Re: I HATE HET

So... Dear 'I hate het' person, it's because of responses like yours that the small majority of decent people in the yaoi fandom are thought of as rabid idiots. Your response was completely irrational and taking what was said out of context.

I ship yaoi. I ship het. Hell, give me a yuri pairing that I can believe and I'll ship yuri too. What the lj'er above referred to was the STEREOTYPING and he made valid points. I don't like when people judge the genre simply on it's reputation but if you're honest, your response to the comment this person made is just what leads people to thinking yaoi is full of screwed up twits. Please remember that when you act like that, the whole fandom will get judged for it.

Yay sanity! -b

I slash, and I can safely say I hate 90% of the yaoi that's out there myself. I do however, think it's hilarious that so many people that hate it in general are so goddamn bitter about it. (not directed at you of course.)

Though I suppose considering that half the people who slash/are into yaoi are batshit insane explains a little bit of it.

Re: 118

[identity profile] milo1047.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not necessarily bitter, I like to think. Just fed up with the cliches and stereotypes. I slash some gay (and straight) pairings myself.

Yeah. Yeah that really does.

Re: 118

[identity profile] radiantcarousel.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I wasn't calling you bitter. Just commenting on it in general. That's just been my general experience in the matter.

I ship more slash than I do het, currently. That's not always the case though. I just happen to have a RP partner who prefers playing boys, and I'm in the same boat. So it works out that way.

They're scary sometimes. :(

Re: 118

[identity profile] milo1047.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Most of my RP characters are boys, though I like to think it's because I am one and it's just easier for me to get into the male mindset.

Very scary. :(

Re: 118

[identity profile] radiantcarousel.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
See, that's the way it's SUPPOSED to work. I can't play girls for shit despite being one (at least last I checked), and I avoid it for the most part because I recognize how bad I am at it. I try on occasion, but usually that just winds up with a bad end.

Re: 118

[identity profile] milo1047.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, that's a shame. The only female character I've ever really had much success with was Harley Quinn.

re: 162

[identity profile] ibroketuesday.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not the OP, but when s/he says s/he's anti-gun, it's doubtful s/he's referring to guns being terrifying or repugnant. Rather, it's more likely that it's about how easy it is to get your hands on a gun, and the kind of effect that has on the murder rate. When I've met people who say they're anti-gun, what they mean is that they're against guns being legal, or against guns being so loosely controlled, not out of some kind of phobia, but because they feel it would make things safer.

Re: 162

[identity profile] milo1047.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess I should have been more clear in my response, again. This is what I get for typing on the spur of the moment. When i say repugnant, I pretty much meant that to include people who think firearms should be outlawed or banned.

I personally disagree that outlawing/taking away guns will make people safer. But that's a whole other can of worms.

Re: 103

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I was wondering/guessing that as well. I don't play WoW, but I have a WoW fanart comm on my flist.

And that is pretty darned hot. :D

Re: 103

[identity profile] milo1047.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
:D I'm a fan of trolls <3 They're very sexy for some reason.

139

[identity profile] lady-laguna.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
You've almost got it, but not quite. While you don't have to have a phenomenal amount of talent to make money in the furry fandom, you DO have to cater to the sexual fetishes of the people you're marketing to. Certain fans won't buy anything but skunks, some only want feet in their images, etc.

It's a sticky business and even if you don't hate the fandom starting out (which OP clearly does) you might by the time you're through.

I tried the whole "furry porn for money" thing at the urging of my ex and... yuck. Just... yuck! The porn itself didn't bother me as much as the kind of people that started to contact me.

Re: 139

[identity profile] milo1047.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Having been peripherally involved with the furry fandom at one time, there's a reason people start to hate it. Everyone puts their kinks and personal fetishes out on display and expects everyone else to act like it's perfectly fine and normal for them to want to fap to people in diapers or inflated characters or vomit or whatever. And if you don't fulfill the hugbox needs, you're a hater and a bigot. Never mind all the drama and attention-whoring that goes on.

The furry fandom just fuckin' scares me sometimes. I like anthro art, but I'd never call myself a furry or be involved in the fandom.

Re: 139

[identity profile] lady-laguna.livejournal.com 2009-02-17 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed. While I have some interests that people don't tend to approve of (I've been a ZADR fan, after all) I don't hold it against people who don't like it. Unless they're assholes about it, lol. I don't go IMing people and beg them to draw yaoi for me XD I try to keep those things at least somewhat contained.

All in all I tend to avoid fandom in general these days :P I just stay on the sidelines and observe.
