Personally I tend to brush off a lot of yaoi pairings because I interpret the characters as canonly straight (i.e. Lupin III. The man never stops chasing skirts!) or have canon love interests/romantic attachments. This makes me a bit of a canon-nazi, I guess. And a bit of a hypocrite because one of my favorite ships has a guy who won't stop chasing this one girl throughout the series...but I never said I was perfect.

Also, I tend to dislike how characters are shoved into the seme/uke stereotypes without any regard for their actual personalities.

Oooh okay, thanks, that definitely makes things clearer (oh, the things I don't consider when I've got a fuzzy, sleep-deprived brain, haha) since different people have different attitude towards canon, I guess. Some people have a, um, looser approach to it? ^^;

I'm probably the opposite of you, I don't often like canon stuff. I have more of a latch attitude if a male character's expressed a liking for women, lol, as long as they explain it in the fic? I ship things purely on whether I like the dynamics a lot of the time (as well as, you know, actual interation) such as I have a soft spot for rivalry pairings, so if there's two characters who are at constant loggerheads with each other, most likely I'll ship them ^^

THIS. That's the only thing that put's me off about yaoi (it doesn't happen so much in yuri, oddly). It comes down to personal preference of the author about who tops/bottoms most of the time, but people often forget being an 'uke' when it comes to sex doesn't have to change their entire personality :| (and slash rivalry pairings are probably the worst culprits for it, lucky me ^^;;)

It's all good. I'm usually pretty cool about slash and whatnot unless I feel very strongly that a character isn't gay/bi (returning to my example of Lupin III). Live and let live!

Yes! That's my main objection to the stereotypical yaoi stuff. Glad that someone agrees with me, at least. xD

Great :D

(I'm shamelessly commenting again just to express my love for your collection of Daisuke and Ken icons ^^ Those two are just too cute and it's awesome to see people still using Digimon icons)

Aw, thanks! I can't take credit for them though. Most (I think all, actually) of my Digimon icons were made by the wonder [livejournal.com profile] bodyline. Her icons and such can be found at [livejournal.com profile] psychelocks :D

And Digimon always needs more love. I just got back into it hardcore recently for some reason. Not that you need a reason to appreciate an awesome show.
