I'm not saying that. It's just so bloody obvious that they're trying to start wank. They gave no reason why they didn't like it or anything for me to want to respect them and think of them as anything but a troll.

I don't think so. In this case wank is, unfortunately, the result of people responding unnecessarily strongly to an unpopular opinion. The secret didn't even say anything offensive like other secrets with unpopular opinions usually do. And it's pretty obvious that the "reason" they wrote it was because they have never been able to say it before (supposedly because of "fear" for this exact type of reaction). I don't know why you think people make these secrets so other people respect them - they're anonymous!

Bravo. It's people who get all defensive, whiny and hostile that make people like the secret poster feel they have to bottle things up to "scream" it out here. Some fandoms are worse than others about it, but, still.

WHATEVER reason the poster could have given for not liking yaoi would probably have been jumped on (and probably by this respondant who's demanding a reason now). Something as simple as "Um, I dislike it and avoid the fanfiction because I do not relate" can get people torn down. (Whereas "I don't like het because I don't relate" seems to be a-okay in most of fandom). What if, for some reason, you find yaoi "boring?" That'll get you torn down, too.

ANY reason someone might have for not liking yaoi seems to get them flamed and labeled - that is, if people on the internet whom I've run into who were openly GAY or BI themselves and claimed they were called homophobes for disliking yaoi were telling the truth. Not even that makes people immune from judgement in fandom.
