Secrets you don't want to make...

(Anonymous) 2021-08-04 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and I'll try my best to use an appropriate image choice. Er, just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made.

I'll monitor this thread until tomorrow's secret post goes up, so feel free to leave your comments until then!

Yours truly,

a secret maker

I love Legally Blonde and Mean Girls but I'm glad I saw them when I did. I don't think parts have aged that well and younger people wouldn't understand how impactful certain moments in them were twenty years ago.

Never seen Mean Girls but I think Legally Blonde has aged really well.

nayrt

I'm not sure if ayrt has this in mind, but I'm thinking that possibly some of the "stereotype" jokes about gender and gay people not have aged as well. As in "gay men know designer shoes" and such. And while it's cool Elle finds her purpose in life, she finds it while in pursuit of a man who dumped her (though yes, she realizes she doesn't need him at the end). I wasn't a fan of the scene where she fakes a relationship with the other law student in order to get some shallow women to take interest in him, either (I get that it's supposed to be funny and an act of kindness but I thought that dude deserved better).

DA - I think the movie has mostly aged well (other than all that stuff about the gay guy in the last trial, which is just cringey), but pop-feminism is doing its best to ruin its validity. Elle Woods is now some kind of litmus test for how girly a female character must be in order to not be a Not Like Other Girls character out to demonize femininity.

I think the trolls responsible for killing off this comm have a responsibility to attract more users.

Secret because they're trying to kill off this comm, of course they won't help.

While sadly it wouldn't surprise me that there's trolls trying to kill off FS, because trolls are generally assholes, has anyone ever said outright that they're gunning for FS or is it just their shitty actions speaking for them?

Also, has anyone tried to lure people to FS over the last, idk, five years? How? Posting on twitter or instagram?

Dear fandom friend: I don't know what possesses you to beg us, even jokingly (I hope), to produce quality fanworks for your eyes, after doing on an exasperated rant about all the sad garbage you have to sift through. Pretty bold of you to assume none of us are or have been guilty of half the offenses you listed. So no, I won't be freely dropping links to anything I write, cover, or otherwise put together, just because you asked.

S!B someone's interested in your fanworks, what an absolutely dreadful first world problem

Could you use the below instead? The original has typos. Sorry for the trouble, and thanks.

I like the weird guy. Sometimes when new fanworks pop up about him I feel kind of anxious. I feel like I almost, deep down, don't want them to exist if they run risk of being better than mine. (I'm aware this is stupid and do not express it.)

The biggest feature an RPG can give me is the ability to play in a system without knowing the lore. Let me be a backwoods barbarian or a force sensitive outworlder or a peasant from a small village. Sharn and Otosan Uchi and wherever the vampires gather in WOD are all super great but I can't get into things until I've played and I can't play if I can't be ignorant.

Actually, can I change "wherever the vampires gather in WOD" to "Tartarus" from W4k. Jesus there are so many games I'd like to be playing. curse my difficulty in starting things.
