141. Crazy fans are not a good reason NOT to vote for someone. And no, I did my research. I know what Obama stands for, I know what my political beliefs are, and I know that we have a two-party system and a vote for a third party is a vote thrown away. Also, Ralph Nader is absolutely fucking crazy and an idiot and I wouldn't vote for him even if I thought he had a chance.

(Anonymous) 2009-02-18 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)Admittedly, I'm not the nation's best history buff, but I can't think of any time a third party has acted as a legitimate contender, rather than a spoiler, for more than one election at a time, unless another party is dying and it's becoming the new second party. It's certainly nothing like the system you see in the UK, let alone somewhere like India or Israel.

(Anonymous) 2009-02-18 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)However, while some people just want more friendship fics, others take it too far, usually I see it as a rebuttal to opposing shippers, even of they just ship in fandom or would have preferred a different ship in canon but aren't insane about it. While sometimes the argument is valid (shippers claiming that their relationship is a waste now, or a character is wasted etc.) often it's just a way to try and belittle the shippers and to make themselves feel/seem superior.
