114: Augh, Darnell. I would seriously do morally questionable things to be able to say 'hey, Crabman' every day, haha. Sometimes I get a little crazy and wish I lived near Earl just because I love the characters so much.
137:...I, y-you...damnit, now I do too! D: Why isn't anyone writing twincest in Skins fandom yet, Emily and Katie's relationship is the most interest in the series so far to me.

I think they did a better and more interesting job on the Ste/Amy storyline (omg, controvesial, unpopular opinion. But geez, even though he's a bastard, I think Ste has an original backstory for soaps. And I have to admit, him caring for Leah and wanting to be there for his baby makes me hate him less than I should)
And the JACK/DARREN STORYLINE. My God, that one episode where Jack faked his death was outstanding and had me in tears. Ashley Taylor Dawson better get something at the Soap Awards this year, he deserves it so much. And Barry Sloane is amazing and the Mcqueen storyline was handled so well, I really like the imagination they put into Myra's past. Everyone should take more interest in those storylines.
Even though Hollyoaks frequently shifts between hilariously bad and brainmeltingly good, this soap needs a fandom that can appreciate it a bit more than the teenyboppers at the forum D: There is no way to have a serious conversation with those guys.

What is Ste's backstory? :|
Ashley Taylor Dawson is more brilliant than people give him credit for, I think. I think he gives some fantastic stuff to his character - Darren is one of the more 'fleshed out' individuals on the show: he has his own motivations and insecurities and everything. One of my favourites, I gotta admit. I also should say I actually missed Darren's presence when he wasn't on screen all that time :( And yet he never seems to be up for anything, gutted!
Barry Sloan and the Niall/McQueen thing was brilliant too - I was scared of Niall and yet I felt sorry for him too. Excellent stuff! When you talk about the "imagination" of Myra's past, what do you mean? The detail that went into it? I liked that storyline, and the way it actually supported the consequences, if that makes any sense.
One thing I really do love about the show, is the dynamics between characters, and not just couples.
OK, so friendship groups can change a bit suddenly sometimes, and best friends forget to talk to eachother or whatever, but there still are those friends who have a loyalty to each other and some sort of bond, even after they've fallen out.
Families are always really well done too - they don't just look like they've been cobbled together: siblings mock and tease and fight with eachother, but they stick up for eachother too (one of my favourite YT vids is all about siblings), and families seem to have some connection too, not just people who happen to work together. I haven't seen that much on many other programmes, and it's lovely.

Ste: asdfghj I know it sounds like I'm being sympathetic for him but I honestly don't like him. Abusive dad, unreliable, theiving mum (who has a drug/drink problem or something? I think it was one of those) and it's sort of a cycle. He got abused, so he hit Amy. It doesn't make it right and he's a twat that needs some help. But I do think he loves Amy (or at least thinks/wants to be in love with her) and wants to see his kid. Geez, he tried jumping off a roof because she dumped him before Keiron to the rescue, sob. Buuuut I'm sorta under the impression the writers have forgot about all this and just want him to be a comedy character like Justin and Dom :/
So idk it's one of those things where you hate a character but get emtionally invested in them.
Darren is amazing. I loved the bit with him and Jack where he said he was a screw-up but his Dad was like a super hero police man who all the kids at school would stare at (or something to that effect) I just really felt for him. But Cindy/Darren is fail. In fact everything since the late nighters has been generally D: I just hate the new characters. I sort of like the Nancy/Kris storyline but Ravi just can't act :|
I meant the Niall/Myra backstory, lol, fail. Like how she got pregnant (fourteen, sixteen?) and his dad died in jail, and her Mum wouldn't let her keep Niall so she put him into care. I just thought the whole storyline like Niall living with them and he started ttorturing them because they got his mum was just so amazingly planned out. I was honestly hooked to the screen when they showed those bits. And when he broke down in Myra, his Mum's, arms and she hugged him and didn't even know it was her son asdfhj *gets all emotional*

I was quite surprised when I read you *didn't* like Ste. I was expecting you'd really love him. I think he loves Amy too, even if I like her better with Josh.

Hollyoaks have this bad habit of 'black holes' - using characters, giving them SLs, and then forgetting about them or leaving them in the background. They've conveniently forgotten that Steph has epilepsy and that Myra lost a daughter pretty recently, to name a few things. Sometimes it can go on for months *cough*RUSS*cough*
I find it's very easy to get "emotionally invested" in HO characters - sometimes I genuinely get worried about them, concerned for their welfare. That's probably a very sad thing to admit, but it's true.
I love Darren. Even when he's annoying he's lovable. I love the way he makes jokes that even though they sound bad, are usually just his way of coping with a situation or an attempt to lighten the mood. And I like Cindy/Darren too *embarrassed* I don't like the Nancy/Kris storyline, but I agree: Ravi CAN'T act.
The Niall stuff was brilliant. SO good. Attention grabbing and scary and even a little understandable :|
