I interpret your secret that 'Shipping at all used to be super weird and now *not* shipping as seen as weird'.

Now look, remember shipping isn't activism. And you're comparing the old non fandom view with the new in fandom view. I assure you the VAST majority of people still think any kind of shipping (yes Virginia, even het shipping) is weird and gross.
