This isn't uncommon. I think there was a secret a few months ago voting for Optimus Prime, and I heard on the news about a few votes for Mickey Mouse, dead people, etc.

Spoiling your ballot is a legitimate vote. It's usually done by people who don't like any of the main contenders, but want to make their dislike known, which simply not voting wouldn't achieve. Basically, it's saying "I'd rather have [fictional character] as president than either of these guys". It's a minute protest that won't really make a difference, but it's probably a lot more satisfying than not voting.
HAVING SAID THAT-- I doubt that sort of protest was on 101's mind; I doubt anything other than "tee hee, this will be great when I post it to Fandom Secrets" was on their mind.

I think it's more of a matter of keeping the two primary candidates (who the poster obviously doesn't like) from getting another vote.

But that's utterly pointless. You can snicker in your head about sticking it to the system all you want. The two candidates will never hear about that one person who voted for Optimus Prime or whoever and they're not going to care.

I always vote for whomever I consider to be the lesser of the two evils, even if I don't like them.
