I only read a handful of fics for Jareth/Sarah back in the day, but as a hardcore Christine/Erik shipper, I totally get your secret.

I knew one RL Christine/Phantom shipper who ended up in crap controlling relationships because she had shit taste in men, and a few creeps showed up on Phantom fan forums (and got banned) back in the day looking for teen girls to hit on, but there are also lots of people into vanilla media and fluffy ships who end up with shitty predatory people.

It would be simpler if banning problematic ships actually did anything to help RL victims of abuse, but they really have nothing to do with each other.
