What's so fun about it? I think it's rather sad.

Aw that's too bad. I get the feeling you would enjoy Firelands by Michael Jensen or Wicked Gentlemen by Ginn Hale. Both Excellent books. I get lost in them. Firelands especially(I have a native american kink).

Star Trek is a really expansive canon, is the thing. Wide-ranging appeal. With the different series, different types split into different fan sects. (I'm pretty devoted to TOS and TNG myself.)

No, but I'm almost certain I remember Holmes fighting SOMEONE in Big Ben during the cartoon when he was in the future. But I guess Big Ben sees a lot of action like that. It's like England's Statue of Liberty with all the heroes and villains getting in its business.

Well, MOST fandom friends usually don't care about you per say. It is just fun participating in the same fandom. So i guess I found it funny that the OP was saying "hey mom, people on the Internetz care about me!" I've said the same thing, jokingly. Sorry if I stuck a nerve or something.

the secret is because i have ran into more than a few "feminists" who decry everything disney and think the princess line is a step backwards for empowering little girls. i have seen too many rants over and over about the evils of disney and passivel female princesses and it becomes more than a little hurtful to hear that anything too girly is bad for feminism and female progress, and to know i've been a feminist for a long time but don't think disney is godawful or even that bad. and these people are making me feel bad for my love.

115: Seconded. Also, I wish I had a TARDIS, or any other time machine, for exactly that reason. I want to go back in time and tell him how monumentally important his work has been, and what an inspiration he's been to me and other scientists. And then I'd take him on a tour of all the cool things that have been discovered in biology, all the proofs of his theory that have been uncovered. I think he'd get a kick out of it :).

I thought feminism meant having open options and being able to CHOOSE to take on steriotypically male roles in society or to abandon steriotypically female ones... not being OBLIGATED to. IMHO, being a "bad feminist" means judging any female, regardless of their life choices. If you think being a steriotypical FEMALE makes you a bad feminist, you're not a feminist -- you're a mysogynist.
