Well, hyperbole was the point. I'll agree there are a few exceptions, of course.

Gross hyperbole. I mean. Yeah, if all you're watching is Bleach and Lucky Star or whatever. Entertainment, yes, depth, no. But realize that lots of these shows are aimed at, well, easily entertained twelve-year-olds or otaku who will watch anything with lolis and nerdy pop culture jokes.

I object to Ghost in the Shell being included in that image, also. Being popular does not mean it is bad.

I wouldn't single anime out among other media. Sturgeon's Law: 90% of everything is crap. I work at a video store and I can attest that out of the seven to fifteen movies that we get every week, one or two are actually worth watching. Film is inundated with shitty action flicks, vapid chick flicks, and low-budget boob-and-slashers. Books are usually marginally better by the rule that the book is always better than the movie, but there is still so much shit out there. Welcome to Planet Earth.

On the image, I didn't make it. It's one of the first that came up when I imagesearched "anime."
