157. DO IT! screw the fam, my parents know I write/read slash, they're okay, they kinda joke about it sometimes, but it's better than having a huge perverted secret from the world...

But you see, not every family is as respectful as yours seem to be. Mine used to make me feel worthless and a sick person just for liking anime. Now, if they had found out I also wrote fanfiction for it I'm pretty certain their "jokes" would have been hurtful and cruel.

Yeah, I did felt for a long time that writing fics was like a perverted dirty big secret, but then again, in some families you have to do it in order to protect your self-esteem.

I know, I get that, I just, I dunno, I'm trying to give them hope that someone will be okay with that side of them. I've never had a boyfriend or guy-friend in general who knew, and I'm not sure how it would impact my friendships with them, esp. my friend who reads all of my 'serious' fiction. He might think very poorly of me, since he just knows me as a "brilliant, quiet, sophisticated" type (where he got that impression, I have no idea). My close female friends know of course, and they're cool with it.

Love this idea! I'm not much of a writer, but I might give it a try sometime.
