Depending on the fandom/fandom comm on Lj, publishing gay fic, not even smut just PG as shit m/m works could get you banned from a comm if you didn't warn for it. Or just banned in general if the mods were homophobic enough. I know because for one of my m/m ships in a small fandom we had to make our own comm because the het-centric main general comm refused to let anyone publish anything gay on it even when it was clearly labelled, and this was around 2010.
