This uses a lot of emotionally-strong terms to me that I think is part of the reasons why fandom conversations can be so tense now days, but I think you said essentially that use of the word impugn was incorrect? I'm ignoring the comparison to a TERF and sticking straight back to what I was originally saying by relating a personal and subjective take that I never saw any self-proclaimed antis, but I do see plenty of proshippers calling others antis.

The term "anti" started on Tumblr when people would tag their posts "anti [ship]" Which of course means it would show up in the ship tag. I see now on Twitter a lot of people putting things like [shipname]ers DNI (do not interact) Which is fine, I'd be glad not to interact - no loss to me there - but somehow they can never leave it at that. Just the fact that someone is shipping something they don't like riles them up and makes them go after people. I know people who've been doxxed, threatened, lost their jobs, etc. over this shit.

just to point out, "[shipname]ers DNI" isn't always for anti reasons. i have that disclaimer on my twitter for a particular ship because the ship is one that's triggering to me for rl reasons and i want to keep it as far away from my timeline as possible. i don't care if other people want to ship it, i just don't want it anywhere near me because it's the kind of thing that can ruin my day if i run into it.

Sure, and I respect that boundary and wouldn't deliberately cross it - unless they interacted with me first! I've seen people using that DNI to say, "I can criticize or attack you, but you can't respond because DNI"

When you put that on your bio, it means no interaction in either direction. Which would be a great compromise if people actually stuck to it. Social media does make that difficult though.

That does indeed seem like something stupid that people would do. I just hope that you hold everyone who does doxxing, threats, etc., accountable for the things they do, and not just antis.

Man, this isn't just both sides. It's a circle. Everyone on the internet is doing this sort of behavior, and I don't think that you've been sent death threats before. Even a nobody like me got their own death threats.

I've never seen a single example of a proshipper sending real CP, execution videos and gore pictures to an anti. I have very much seen the opposite.
