109. ...Absurdity of rejecting a show based on two minutes of dialogue aside in which Ben wasn't even talking about Christianity per se, he was just making an analogy about finding faith which has always been a running theme, uh, why does this episode matter all of a sudden? Weren't there elements of Christianity/faith in general on the show ever since Mr. Eko and his awesome Jesus stick, and that whole SCIENCE vs. FAITH deal with Jack and Locke?

I was about to say the exact same things. Seriously? Not to mention names like Christian and Jacob (among others), which are fairly obvious biblical references?

The idea of faith (any kind of faith) has been around since the beginning. Even before the Jesus stick there was Rose having "faith" that Bernard was alive while Jack was a jearsing downer.

You would think that having an episode titled "Man of Science, Man of Faith" would've been a big clue that faith was playing a big role thematically.

This. Actually, though, I've yet to come across a Lost fan who complained about Christianity in the show (WTF really). Maybe I've just been lucky? :-)
