...Wow. You really just don't get it, do you?

First off, don't lump all slash and yaoi fans together; not all slash fans like yaoi and vice versa.

Secondly, information is your friend. I'm going to assume that you've only been exposed to yaoi (despite saying you hate slash), and that's not all that's out there. To be honest, I've read plenty of gay fiction written for gay men by gay men, and even in many of those stories, the characters' actions and reactions aren't all that different from some of what's being written in fandoms. Maybe you should do a little more research before casting the entire lot into the fire.

Finally, way to be judgmental and close-minded. It kind of reminds me of all the militant liberals who claim to be totally free-thinking and "outside the box" when, really, they're just inside another, more hypocritical box.

My advice? Just fucking relax and get over yourself. It just seems wasteful making yourself look so...stunted.

Off topic but: Honestly, a good number of those "militant liberals" you seem to disparage are just so fucking sick and fucking tired of the hateful intolerance on the part of the Right that we don't tolerate it anymore.

And yeah, as far as I'm concerned there's not shame in refusing to tolerate hatred, greed and bigotry.

or:

Because hatred, greed and bigotry are, to this liberal, evils to be actively combated. Kindof like how some fundamentalists see homosexuality and evolution as evils to be combated.

Yeah, no, I basically just don't like hypocrites. Honestly, I think liberals are just as bad as fundamentalists, only in the opposite direction. They just won't admit it. Example: PETA. They're essentially terrorists for a "good cause". I mean, I love kittens just as much as the next non-allergic person, but calling fish "sea kittens" isn't going to make me want to eat them any less.

Personally, I think the seme/uke thing is silly, but if it floats someone else's boat - it's not hurting anyone, is it? (It's making OP really mad, but I'm not quite sure why.) And yetmost of the slash fics I've read are absolutely nothing like that. There's not a "top" or a "bottom," they're just together. I'm thinking OP might have just thought "slash" was another word for "yaoi." Who knows.

For the record, I don't really care either way; I like what I like, and if people want to judge me for it, it'll come full circle on them someday, so whatever.

And yeah, that's what I'm kind of thinking. There is a difference between "slash" and "yaoi", but it's a cultural one, not that anyone seems to consider that. It's a shame that folks don't try to be more educated about some things, but what can you do, you know?
