what did they do wrt their labor laws?

the "hobbit law" turns film industry workers into individual contractors instead of employees, so they don't get the right to strike (and i think a number of other benefits are lost too). that was in direct response to the actors union protests leading up up the hobbit.
public fear over "losing" the hobbit being filmed in nz was leveraged to do this it's ghoulish.
