I use the word dude all the time. On the internet and in real life. Last time I checked, I had a vagina.

I also know plenty of girls who use the word 'fag,' though I wish they wouldn't.

"Dude", "chick" and "fag" are words that can be and are uttered by people gendered female (distasteful as "fag" may be). You know what they say about assumptions? This one is just making an ass of you.

Hm I'm not sure 'male' is the word you're looking for. Nowadays when people post anonymously on lj they often use 4chan anonspeak. It uses more insulting/aggressive/slang words and so you code it as masculine. So I don't think they're trying to act male, it's just 4chan culture spreading to lj.
